Are You in Agreement with Abbas’ Covenant????

The dictionary tells us that a covenant is an agreement; but in thinking about the word it is so much more than that.  The following list of words are like the word covenant and if used in replacement of it one can be given a unique and in-depth  viewpoint on what a covenant really is and why ours is so precious in the Most High as His redeemed children.

The Hebrew for covenant is berith in Strong’s Concordance and in the bible it is often translated "covenant" are berit [tyir.B] in the Old Testament (appearing about 280 times) and diatheke [diaqhvkh] in the New Testament (at least 33 times).  It presupposes that when two or more parties who come together to have a meeting of the mind that they are making a “contract”.  In doing so they are agreeing on promises, have made stipulations, will gain privileges, and are to move in the outlined responsibilities of the agreement.  The preferred meaning of this Old Testament word is bond; a covenant refers to two or more parties bound together.  I have to say that I really am partial to seeing the covenant as a bond.  It reminds me of the saying “Word is Bond” when I was growing up.  When I think about a bond I think of a seal or being tied tight.  For us in this agreement the Most High can dwell with us because we are “indentured” to Him as Ephesians 4 describes.  Meaning that IF we are willing to come into His fold He gives us a perfect example of sacrifice in our brother our MessiYah.  In accepting Him we can move in Abba so that He can keep us; and send the Holy Spirit to commune with His children.

We make agreements (covenants) daily with family, friends, at work and the many avenues that we walk through here on this proving ground.  What place do you give these obligations in your life???  In studying we were asked “Do you consider the one you have made with the Most High to be more precious than all these worldly agreements”?  If people are observing your walk can they tell you belong to the Most High?  We are quick to answer “Yes” because we often use our eyes and not the eyes of the Most High!!!!  When was the last time you took a moment to consider the "fine print"; living out our commandants???  Sit back and meditate on the promises, stipulations, privileges, and responsibilities of our covenant???  When you came into the truth you had to repent and ask to be redeemed so you can be made new.  When you submit you are reaching out in faith and asking to become a reflection of Him; that will bring honor to His glorious name.  In doing this in His order those that see His light in you will be drawn to Him through you zealous pursuit of the laws of the agreement.  So as you reflect on your growth in the
truth has your covenant with Abba been held in a higher esteem than those of this world?  Do you fully understand that when Psalms 89:34 tells us “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips” He is offering again the unity the fullness of the agreement to bond in peace with His redeemed children?? This means that Abba has offered His “accord” as a guarantee, but that our adherence to the responsibilities given can not be on our terms?  Did you compromise staying in Him in situations in your life that are meant to illustrate His glory???

In the beginning of this walk I di
d a few times because I still had that Christian think that teaches us to compromise to “win” people over.  I thought that if I reached out in acts of kindness I would be able to share this truth of Abba and people would follow suit.  I just knew they would understand the gift of what the Most High has for those that want to belong to Him.  That they too would want the forever He promises and they would join me in being His.  Needless to say I forgot the key word was “want”.  In this time it was made clear that the Most High chooses whom He will.  Moreover that this agreement or covenant He offered me was for me alone because I wanted to be His wholeheartedly.  To do so demanded the required living of this truth be done come what may; so I could trust Him.  For those who seek our gracious Father doing so would offer a chance to receive His promise for those He chooses because of our love for Him alone.  This meant that to move in Him all those in my life had to understand that I would not compromise and if they refused to be before the Most High; we would have to part ways.  Know that these agreements here don't matter unless those you make them with are in “bond” with Most High.  Our relationship being complete depends on our serving Him with all our heart in joy because He chose you out of billions of people.  In Deuteronomy 7:12 it promises for those who meet His stipulations that "Then it shall come about, because you listen to these judgments and keep and do them, that the Most High your Sovereign will keep with you His covenant and His loving kindness which He swore to your forefathers”.  It is agreed that because we kept our part of the covenant that we can be chosen by Abba to receive His everlasting reward of eternal joy and peace.  The Most High is beyond worthy and He has extended to us the opportunity to be made new in His image after repentance through redemption.  This agreement our covenant is our bond agreeing that this precious relationship is the only one that matters.  As the day of the Most High approaches know that holding up your portion of the promise will be challenging; but because His word never fails IF you stand in Abba the gift you will receive is priceless!!!!!
