You are only as good as your last decision.

Ezekiel 18:19Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done, he shall live.23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.25 Yet ye say The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?26 When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.28 Because he considereth, and turneth away from all the transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

Every day we are faced with decisions. What to eat, drink, wear, where to go, who to speak to. How do you handle the daily decision making in your life? Do you make decisions that feed your flesh or your spirit? Decisions that build your spiritual foundation or tear it down? Decisions that build you into your best self, aiming for perfection, or self-destruction?

So you woke up this morning. You were given a fresh start. Another chance to get it right. Make good choices. Reflect on the things you did in the last few days or weeks that you shouldn't have. See the tricks and the traps of the enemy. Here is your chance! Make a plan to begin again.

Begin with gratitude for another day. A grateful heart will set you on the path towards recognition of how far the Father has brought you.

Seek correction, chastisement, and direction in regards to your poor decisions.  Repent( turn away from not to repeat again) of your sinful behavior.

Decide how you are going to face the challenges that are headed your way.

Now get up and do it!!!!

Will you perfect? Probably not, but if you are walking with a grateful, repentant heart, and conscious of your thoughts, actions, and behavior you are well on your way to perfection with Christ.

 Remember:

Philippians 4:13“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

It is never too late to begin.

Take this new day, this new chance and build your treasure up in the kingdom that will remain for eternity.

Once in a Lifetime

Matthew 6:34 “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

There are so many things that happen to us. I often wonder will today be a once in a lifetime day or will today pass by without recognition or remembrance? Will this day live on in your memory or be one that you will try to forget. Each day that we wake up we are given another chance to make this a day that we will never forget. Are you living your life to the fullest? Doing the most you can do to serve in the Father's Kingdom? Are you using the tools that you have on hand to build your portion?

Hebrews 3:7Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8Harden, not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9When your fathers tempted me, proved me and saw my works forty years.

So many times we get caught up in our routine, or in a rut that we forget that we apart of the bigger picture. That what we are doing matters, and that today might be the last chance you get to fulfill your mission. As you go about your day look for opportunities, if nothing else to glorify the father and thank him for the opportunity that he has given you to live each day.

2 Peter 3: 11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

A time and a season

This too shall pass. Friendships, jobs, opportunities, circumstances.  They all change over time. The word says for everything there is a time and a season.  As humans we are averse to change. We like predictable, planned, easy. But the only way to change yourself is to challenge yourself. Quite often people or circumstances came into our lives for a season, to teach us a vital lesson. Have you learned the lesson?  Are you growing or have you allowed yourself to become stagnate?
https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/verse-of-day.php

As spring has just begun, the entire earth is changing. Pushing of the old darkness and stretching forth into new life. Have you begun to put off old ways and learned more discipline and faithfulness?

Psalms 1:1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Galatians 6: 7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. 9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
2 Esdras 8:41
For as the husbandman soweth much seed upon the ground, and planteth many trees, and yet the thing that is sown good in his season cometh not up, neither doth all that is planted take root: even so is it of them that are sown in the world; they shall not all be saved.

Habakkuk 2:3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. 4Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

As we enter this New Year and new season of feasts it is important to study and know what day and hour we are in. Prepare your temples(bodies) minds, and spirits that you may bring a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving, righteously to the King and show yourself a workman for the kingdom.

Exodus 13:3And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the LORD brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.5 And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the LORD.7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the LORD did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the LORD'S law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the LORD brought thee out of Egypt.10 Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

Leviticus 23:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.4 These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

Armour

1 Thessalonians 5:8“ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.”

What does your armor look like?? Is it shined, strong and ready for battle?? Or have you let it grow rusted and weak? What is the armor really?? Let's break it down.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Truth-Psalms 119:142Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.
Psalms 119:151Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth.
John 17:17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 8:31-32

Righteousness-Deuteronomy 6:25 And it shall be our righteousness if we observe to do all these commandments
before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
Psalms 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

Peace-Isaiah 26:3 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Faith-Ecclesiasticus 25:12 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of his love: and faith is the beginning of cleaving unto him.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Salvation-Philippians 2:12 “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Psalms 144:10It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword. 2 Thessalonians 2:13  But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Isaiah 25:9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God-

2 Corinthians 6:7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,(- Was a tool to be an approved servant 2 Cor 6:4-10)

Romans 13:12The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us, therefore, cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

The "maul" (Prov. 25:18; cognate Hebrew word" "rendered " battle-ax" in Jer. 51:20, and "slaughter weapon" in" "Ezek. 9:2) was a war-hammer or martel. Last Days

Genesis 6:12-13 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

As in the days of Noah.....

1 Peter 3:20Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Genesis 7:23And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

Matthew 24:37 -38But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Luke 17:26-27And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe
entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Are we in the last days you may ask?? The word says we are.

Acts 2:14-2014But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: 15For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. 16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
2 Peter 3:10-13 - But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.   (Read More...)

Destruction is coming!

Isaiah 66: 14And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies. 15For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. 16For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
Matthew 24:21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

People won't believe. They will say people have been saying this for hundreds of years. Why should I get serious now??

2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

What shall I do??

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Ezekiel 14:12The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, 13Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break thestaff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: 16Though these three men were in 14Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD. 15If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the la it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

Hebrews 11:7By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

How are you preparing? Are you becoming more disciplined or less?? Are you behaving as one who has been warned or as a scoffer?? Are you prepard to ENDURE??

Matthew 24:13 - But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Ephesians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Do You take it personally?

Do you take it personally when someone speaks ill of the Father or
His word? When someone is breaking a commandment?  When someone Glorifies the enemy?? You should. If your perspective is correct.   Are you working to have a part in the Kingdom?  That means you will have some sort of pride or ownership when you make it.  That also means when someone is speaking or acting against it that they are your enemy.  Sin equals death. (Romans 6:23) Are you working for death or the kingdom of eternal life? Are you your own enemy?

Scripture says flesh will not see God and live. (EX33:20) This was a principle they knew in the old testament.  That's why they were afraid when they knew they had been in the presence of a messenger from The Most High. Genesis 32:30,  (Judges 13:22) (Judges6:20-22)
1 Corinthians 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh, and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
1 Corinthians 1:29That no flesh should glory in his presence.

Flesh is corrupted. Fallen. Evil. Are you feeding your spirit and making it stronger or are you indulging your flesh and giving the wickedness within strength over your spirit??

Mark 14:38Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
John 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 6:63  It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Your choices and words daily mean all the difference.

Romans 6:19  I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Ecclesiastes 5:6“Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?”

Romans 7:5For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
Galatians 5:19-21 | View whole chapter Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Romans 8:3-5For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Romans 8:8-9  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Romans 8:12-14Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof.

2 Corinthians 7:1  Having, therefore, these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Galatians 5:16-17  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Galatians 5:24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Galatians 6:8  For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption, but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Proving

When someone comes to you and tells you something that seems unbelievable most peoples reaction is PROVE IT!  Wanting to be successful in this life takes work. You must prove your dedication through your actions.  If you are in this walk, you have told The Father that you long to be a part of His kingdom and inherit eternal life.   He is not going to allow just anyone into His kingdom. He will allow various trials to come into your life to prove you to see just how serious you are. Many times these tests will come through people and situations that begin looking honest and simple but possess a moment where you will have to decide what will your response be. will you choose life or death??  Holiness or sin?   Eternal life or Damnation?  Good or evil?

Wisdom of Solomon  3:1 But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and there shall no torment touch them.2 In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die: and their departure is taken for misery,3 And their going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace.4 For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality.5 And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved them, and found them worthy for himself.6 As gold in the furnace hath he tried them, and received them as a burnt offering.

Deuteronomy 8:2And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
Judges 3:1 Now these are the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
Judges 3:4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
Psalms 17:3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
Psalms 26:2 Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
Psalms 66:10  For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

There is an old saying, "Actions speak louder than words."   It is true we are no longer under the obligation to trade an animals life for our own.  Knowing that Christ died to give you an opportunity to do better and be more, are you proving yourself??

Romans 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Galatians 6:4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
1 Thessalonians 5:21  Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

Frustration

What do you do when you are frustrated with the where you are in life?? When you feel like your working hard daily to be the best you can but the little changes are not adding up quickly enough to make an impact In your field of vision. Do you quit trying or press through?

Are you being transformed?  Are you everyday walking one step closer to your destiny? Transforming your mind, your body, your soul, and your spirit, into the person that you are to become? Are you focused, ready, determined to meet with that point in time that The Most High sent you here to fulfill?  Have you become the person he sent you here to become?

Romans 12:1-2 - I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, [which is] your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God

Ecclesiastes 3:1 - To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Galatians 6:9 - And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Yashaya Christ:”

Esther 9:15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.16 But the other Jews that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.18But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.20 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both nigh and far,21 To stablish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,22 As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.23 And the Jews undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the Jews, had devised against the Jews to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the Jews, should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,27 The Jews ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the Jews, nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the Jew, wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.

A Second Victory on the same days 2  Macc 15:8-36

2 Macc 15:8Wherefore he exhorted his people not to fear the coming of the heathen against them, but to remember the help which in former times they had received from heaven, and now to expect the victory and aid, which should come unto them from the Almighty.9 And so comforting them out of the law and the prophets, and withal putting them in mind of the battles that they won afore, he made them more cheerful.10 And when he had stirred up their minds, he gave them their charge, shewing them therewithall the falsehood of the heathen, and the breach of oaths.11 Thus he armed every one of them, not so much with defence of shields and spears, as with comfortable and good words: and beside that, he told them a dream worthy to be believed, as if it had been so indeed, which did not a little rejoice them.12 And this was his vision: That Onias, who had been high priest, a virtuous and a good man, reverend in conversation, gentle in condition, well spoken also, and exercised from a child in all points of virtue, holding up his hands prayed for the whole body of the Jews.13 This done, in like manner there appeared a man with gray hairs, and exceeding glorious, who was of a wonderful and excellent majesty.14 Then Onias answered, saying, This is a lover of the brethren, who prayeth much for the people, and for the holy city, to wit, Jeremias the prophet of God.15 Whereupon Jeremias holding forth his right hand gave to Judas a sword of gold, and in giving it spake thus,16 Take this holy sword, a gift from God, with the which thou shalt wound the adversaries.17 Thus being well comforted by the words of Judas, which were very good, and able to stir them up to valour, and to encourage the hearts of the young men, they determined not to pitch camp, but courageously to set upon them, and manfully to try the matter by conflict, because the city and the sanctuary and the temple were in danger.18 For the care that they took for their wives, and their children, their brethren, and folks, was in least account with them: but the greatest and principal fear was for the holy temple.19 Also they that were in the city took not the least care, being troubled for the conflict abroad.20 And now, when as all looked what should be the trial, and the enemies were already come near, and the army was set in array, and the beasts conveniently placed, and the horsemen set in wings,

21 Maccabeus seeing the coming of the multitude, and the divers preparations of armour, and the fierceness of the beasts, stretched out his hands toward heaven, and called upon the Lord that worketh wonders, knowing that victory cometh not by arms, but even as it seemeth good to him, he giveth it to such as are worthy:22 Therefore in his prayer he said after this manner; O Lord, thou didst send thine angel in the time of Ezekias king of Judea, and didst slay in the host of Sennacherib an hundred fourscore and five thousand:23 Wherefore now also, O Lord of heaven, send a good angel before us for a fear and dread unto them;24 And through the might of thine arm let those be stricken with terror, that come against thy holy people to blaspheme. And he ended thus.

25 Then Nicanor and they that were with him came forward with trumpets and songs.

26 But Judas and his company encountered the enemies with invocation and prayer.

27 So that fighting with their hands, and praying unto God with their hearts, they slew no less than thirty and five thousand men: for through the appearance of God they were greatly cheered.28 Now when the battle was done, returning again with joy, they knew that Nicanor lay dead in his harness.29 Then they made a great shout and a noise, praising the Almighty in their own language.30 And Judas, who was ever the chief defender of the citizens both in body and mind, and who continued his love toward his countrymen all his life, commanded to strike off Nicanor's head, and his hand with his shoulder, and bring them to Jerusalem.31 So when he was there, and called them of his nation together, and set the priests before the altar, he sent for them that were of the tower,32 And shewed them vile Nicanor's head, and the hand of that blasphemer, which with proud brags he had stretched out against the holy temple of the Almighty.33 And when he had cut out the tongue of that ungodly Nicanor, he commanded that they should give it by pieces unto the fowls, and hang up the reward of his madness before the temple.34 So every man praised toward the heaven the glorious Lord, saying, Blessed be he that hath kept his own place undefiled.35 He hanged also Nicanor's head upon the tower, an evident and manifest sign unto all of the help of the Lord.36 And they ordained all with a common decree in no case to let that day pass without solemnity, but to celebrate the thirtieth day of the twelfth month, which in the Syrian tongue is called Adar, the day before Mardocheus' day.
