Petitioning the King

When you go into prayer where is your mind?  What are you focused on?  Is it all of your problems and concerns? Is it your feelings and thoughts? Or is it the chance to speak to the king? The chance to bow before the creator and be allowed to speak to him?

If it was an earthly king you would make sure you were dressed appropriately, and that you had fulfilled all of his conditions before you approached him. You would be sure that you came correct so that you didn't suffer the consequences of his anger.

Esther 4:10 Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;11 All the king's servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.12 And they told to Mordecai Esther's words.13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king's house, more than all the Jews.14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?15 Then Esther bade them return Mordecai this answer,16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.

So I ask you again when you enter into prayer where is your focus? Prayer is a vital key to our strength and endurance. Are you pursuing the father with your prayer?

Ecclesiasticus 18:23“Before thou prayest, prepare thyself; and be not as one that tempteth the Lord.”

Revelation 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Revelation 8:3-4And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.
