Are you a mature follower?

Hebrews 5:¹²For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. ¹³For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. ¹⁴But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. 

 When you begin this walk with Christ there is a time of surrender and learning. After this, there is a time of trial and testing and if you can remain a follower then you get to enter boot camp. This is the phase where you go through a series of tests and highs and lows in order to teach you things it is also the phase where you are expected to learn the basics of what the word says.

1 Peter 2:¹Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, ²As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: ³If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. ⁴To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, ⁵Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal and walk as men?

Your choices will change with personal growth. An evaluation of your life against this chart will give you some insight into where you are in your walk. We will always have work to do, and in times of crisis it is always advised to return to the foundations that cannot be shaken, but don't be like the forgetful Israelites who when they had been delivered from Egypt desired to return to bondage rather than exercising Faith to make it to their Promised land.
