Vanity

Psalms 4:2 

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing( lies,falsehood, anything that deceives)? Selah.

 

2 Kings 17:15

And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.

Vanity is tied to Pride....one of the seven deadly sins. In this day and age where we are inundated with images of beautiful and perfect vanity is a hard spirit to fight. Living in this land of confusion we are taught that if you are anything less then fit, made up, right clothes,shoes, etc then you are ugly.  The Most high created each of us exactly the way he intended for us to look. We have been deceived by the enemy to feel lesser than if we are not expressing our individuality, by picking a trend or idea to follow.  Which by that very act lessens our God given individuality.

Psalms 10:4

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. 

Job 15:31

Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence. 

Job 31:5 

If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;

Job 35:13

Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
