This means you must have a strength of character to separate yourself from someone who has no interest in bettering themselves or their life. Children will follow their parent's example. They learn what they live not what they are told.
Rising above the influence of poor role models can be done but you must purge your mind of the negativity. Many will follow your good example. Choosing to teach others will require you to live to a higher standard. Remember believers, as well as nonbelievers, will be watching.
