Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

When we covet what another has we are not only being ungrateful but we are also making way for envy, lust, jealousy, resentment, and ultimately hatred to have a place in our lives.  These are all works of the flesh. As the scripts tell us that our flesh is an enemy of The Most High it is up to us to buffet our flesh and subdue it to the authority of Christ.1 John 2:16

Mark 7:20

 And he said That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,²²Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:²³ All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Ephesians 5:3“ But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;”

 Romans 13: ⁸Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. ⁹For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. ¹⁰Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. ¹¹And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. ¹²The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us, therefore, cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
