Wise as a serpent Gentle as a dove

Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.-Matthew 10:16

When I think of a snake I immediately get the creeps! Ugh, they are so deceptive and quiet. You quite often do not even know they are there until you come upon them.  Doves also can be very still and quiet even though they present no real danger.  That was the essence behind What Christ was telling us with this statement.  We cannot escape the wickedness of these days and times. But we can withdraw ourselves from participation, stay quiet, watchful, and protective of ourselves and our families. We can use wisdom and listen more then we speak in order to be effective in the mission that we were put on this earth to achieve. Being prepared and ready for the Fathers use.

See, I have told you in advance.
Matthew 24:45
Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of his household, to give the others their food at the proper time?
Matthew 25:2
Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
Matthew 25:4
But the wise ones took oil in flasks along with their lamps.
Romans 16:19
Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil.

Wise.

Luke 21:15
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
