Don't get pulled out of place

Judges 2:1And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you.2 And ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land; ye shall throw down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice: why have ye done this?3 Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

They got distracted, lost their focus, then began to behave like the heathen that were living around them.  By losing focus they lost their identity as leaders and became followers. Followers of evil.

The most High allowed the nations to Prove the people.  To see if the things that they spoke were truth or if they were just saying what they thought their leader wanted to hear.

Are you surrounded by heathen? At work, in the grocery store, at the gym, or even in trafffic?  Don't allow yourself to become engaged and caught up in their practices.

Judges 2:20 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep it, or not.

As we read on we read about Jeal. She was a housewife. A homemaker. Probably at home doing laundry, sweeping the tent, shaking out the dust, and thinking of what she would feed her husband when he returned. She had been placed strategically there by the Most High. The text doesn't tell us what she was thinking but it does tell us that she was smart, and she was prepared. By being home that day she killed the man that had terrorized the Isrealites.  Just because you don't feel like your making a huge impact or that you don't have a specific job,  understand that you may be strategically postioned for something that only the Most High knows is coming.

Judges 4:17Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.19 And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.20 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.21 Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
